MANILA---Jeremy Marticio, a 16-year-old Grade 11 student of Pulo National High School in Cabuyao City, Laguna, ruled via tie break the 1st TCC Chesscology Standard 1800 FIDE Rated chess tournament held last October 8 at the Robinsons Townville, Buhay na Tubig, Imus City, Cavite.
Jeremy tied for first-third places with fellow 5.5 pointers his younger sister Jersey Marticio, a 15-year-old Grade 10 student of Pulo National High School, Cabuyao City, Laguna and Ariel Santander, a 16-year-old Grade 10 student of LPU Cavite from Trece Martirez.
With the highest tie break points, Jeremy took the title, his younger sister Jersey finished second while Ariel landed at 3rd place in the 30 minutes plus 30 seconds increment time control event, organized by Mr. Melo Guevarra of the The Chess Castle Academe Club.
In the sixth and final round Jeremy bested Fernando Orcullo, Jersey toppled Aldrin Pasno while Ariel split the points with Eowyn Jullado.
Rounding up the top 10 were Jullado (4th), Jess Tony Bolivar (5th), Stephen Fiorren Casedo (6th), Richel Lomocso (7th), Orcullo (8th), Paul John Lauron (9th) and John Lance Valencia (10th).-Marlon Bernardino-
