MANILA, Philippines----Country's newest National Master Jasper Concepcion Faeldonia says he is ready for war when he goes up against National Master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr. in the Grandmaster Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. chess challenge dubbed as Bayanihan Chess Club match up series chess for a cause on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
" I have to train hard for this fight to give my best and to give good show," said Faeldonia, a Grade 11 student of Arellano University under the watch of coach NM Rudy Ibanez, emerged as one of the youngest chessers with a National Master (NM) title after ruling the National Youth and Schools Chess Championships Under-17 division held online via the Hybrid Tornelo platform from June 10-13.
"I will do my very best to win the tournament," said Bernardino, an online Arena Grandmaster who is also a veteran sportswriter who will celebrate his 44th birthday on August 5.
Organized by Bayanihan Chess Club under the leadership of Dr. Joe Balinas and Engr. Antonio "Uncle Paps" Balinas.
Earlier, Melizah Ruth Carreon defeated Singaporean Siew Kai Xin, Robert Suelo Jr. toppled Israel Landicho while Jayson San Jose Visca nipped Genghis Imperial.
