NBA -- Bulls survive 112-110 thriller over pesky Hornets

CHICAGO -- . With 6.2 seconds left to play, the score tied at 110-110, the Bulls needed one defensive stop to force overtime.

Instead, they got more than what they imagined.

The Charlotte Hornets bungled the inbounds pass, which led to a fatal turnover, A foul ensued and two Zach LaVine free throws later, the Chicago Bulls emerged as 112-110 victors on Wednesday night at the United Center.

LaVine finished with 32 points while Cameron Payne, who took over the point guard starting job over the injured Kris Dunn (partial MCL sprain), sizzled with 21 points on 7-of-11 from 3-point range. Jabari Parker added 10 points and nine rebounds. Ryan Arcidiarcano had 10.

Kemba Walker top scored with 23 points for Charlotte, which fell to 2-3. Four other Hornets produced double figures in points but the team struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 10 of 35. Charlotte was also hammered off the boards, 45-36.

It was the Bulls' first win in four tries.
