NBA -- Clips rout Pels, 119-90

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Clippers built a 25-point lead before coasting to a 111-90 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night at Staples Center.

The rout allowed Clippers head coach Doc Rivers to rest his starters in the final 12 minutes of play. It also allowed Los Angeles to bounce back from a disappointing 102-91 defeat at the hands of the visiting Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

Blake Griffin and J.J. Redick each had 20 to pace the Clips. Redick wwent 3-for-3 from 3-point range while Chris Paul accounted for 17 points and eight assists. Lance Stephenson added 10 markers for L.A., which shot 40 of 83 from the field (48.2 percent) and 7-of-19 from 3-point territory (36.8 percent).

Eric Gordon led the Pelicans with 18 but Anthony Davis, who left with a bruised right knee late in the third period, finished only with 17 as New Orleans dropped to 4-12 for the season.

The Clips went back to the .500 mark at 8-8.
