NBA -- Cavs rout Hornets, extend win streak to five

CLEVELAND?LeBron James had an explosive 25 points in 27 minutes to engineer the Cleveland Cavaliers' 129-90 demolition of the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night at the Qucken Loans Arena.

After taking a 33-13 first quarter lead, the Cavs went on a 42-27 second quarter run to take a commanding 40-75 halftime advantage. The Hornets never recovered from the barrage.

J. R. Smith drilled seven triples for 21 points while Kyrie Irving added 18 for Cleveland, which hit 46 of 89 field goals. The Cavs were also terrific from long distance, going 15-for-26.

"Right now I feel like this is the team that I envisioned. This is the style of basketball I envisioned. Obviously, the points that we put I don't envision that every night but we have to share the ball, how we defend, that should be our staples," James told reporters after his team won five in a row.

Al Jefferson spearheaded the Hornets' offense with 22 points and 11 boards but Kemba Walker was held to eight points on 3-for-14 shooting. Charlotte converted only 36 of 89 field goals, a low 40.4 percent clip.
