DONAIRE?S GAME-PLAN IN PLACE FOR WALTERS By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 14 Oct 2014 Five division world champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire (33-2, 21 KO's) has his game-plan down pat as he prepares to unify the WBA featherweight title as the super champion takes on regular champion Nicholas Walters of Jamaica at the StubHub Center in Carson City, California on Saturday (Sunday in Manila). Donaire?s father/trainer ?Dodong? Donaire told the Manila Standard/Viva Sports ?we have a good game-plan which we worked on during twelve rounds of sparring with Guy Robb last Thursday and I?m not worried. I know Nonito will do it? on fight night with the title unification bout to be telecast on the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday over its pre-eminent Channel 2. ?Dodong? Donaire said Nonito ?is feeling good and is just waiting for the fight.? He said they are winding down training by working on the punch-mitts. The father/trainer revealed that Nonito is around 130-132 pounds and making the 126 pound limit ?will be no problem.? ?Dodong? Donaire told the Standard that he was ?impressed with him (Nonito) during training. He is much faster and much stronger now. He looks impressive.? Walters, the heavy-handed Jamaican who is undefeated in 24 fights with 20 knockouts has predicted he would win by a knockout in five or six rounds but Donaire is paying no attention to the Walter?s boasts pointing out that while the Jamaican hits hard, ?I too can hit hard.? No matter what happens Walters is confident he will win pointing out that he is ?ready to box, because I don?t think Nonito is coming to fight. I wish he does, to get it over with.? The Jamaican who battered ageing Vic Darchinyan who went up in weight to face Walters on the undercard of the Donaire-Simpiwe Vetyeka WBA featherweight super championship title fight in Macau which ended in a 5th round knockout ,conceded that Donaire is a talented champion. He said Donaire, the reigning five division world champion ?has a good jab, fights well but I will do it better. I am not worried; he is the one who should be worried.?
