AL BERNSTEIN PASSES A MILESTONE PhilBoxing.com Tue, 09 Sep 2014 When Hall of Fame Broadcaster Al Bernstein serves as ringside analyst on the Saturday, September 13 Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana rematch on SHOWTIME PPV it will be his 100th pay per view telecast as a boxing announcer. His first came on November 10,1983 when he did the Marvin Hagler-Roberto Duran flight. Bernstein said, ? I have been fortunate to work on so many major pay per view fights involving greats like Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran, Evander Holyfield, Roy Jones Jr., Oscar DeLaHoha, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. It?s a privilege and a big responsibility to chronicle these stars and these important matches. My goal for this one as in the previous 99 is to enhance the viewing experience for both diehard and casual boxing fans as they enjoy this match." He added, ?The first Mayweather-Maidana match provided high drama as Floyd was tested in a way he had not been in some time. I thought it was a close, competitive and compelling bout, with Maidana getting off to a blazing start and Mayweather closing fast in the second half of the match. With one fight under their belt against each other and more time in training for this one, both will come well prepared. Like all fight fans I am curious to see how things turn out.? Al will have a busy fight week that will include an appearance at the inaugural BoxFan Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center at 10 a.m. on September 13th. He will meet and greet boxing fans and three lucky fans will win copies of Al?s book, ?30 Years, 30 Undeniable Truths About Boxing, Sports and TV.? Many boxing champions and celebrities will be on hand at the event. For more information go to www.boxfanexpo.com. Al can also be seen covering fight week events for The Boxing Channel at www.boxingchannel.tv. Al is The Executive Producer of The Boxing Channel.
