NBA Playoffs -- Durant's 39 points send Clippers home
By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Sat, 17 May 2014

SAN FRANCISCO -- After a slow Game 5 start, going 0-for-5 from the field, Kevin Durant found his stroke and finished with 39 points to rescue the Oklahoma City Thunder from the Los Angeles Clippers, 104-98.
The well-earned victory propelled the Thunder to their third Western Conference Finals trip in four years. It also eliminated the Clippers, who lost the West semifinals series, 4-2.
"Tonight's game is something we've done all year. We stuck together and found ways to win," Thunder head coach Scott Brooks told NBA.com after his team rallied from 16 points down in the first half.
Down 50-42 at halftime, OKC countered in the second half with a 62-48 run, thanks to Durant's 25 points. Durant ended up sinking 12 of 23 field goals. The newly-minted MVP also grabbed 16 rebounds and issued 5 assists.
Chris Paul topscored for the Clippers with 25 and 11 assists. Blake Griffin contributed 22 and 8 boards while J.J. Redick added 16. The Clips were hoping to extend the series to a Game 7 but they made only 40 of 85 shots and just 6 of 21 threes. They also missed 8 of their 20 free throws. (RM)
