RANDY PETALCORIN TRAINING UPDATE PhilBoxing.com Wed, 12 Mar 2014 Today WBA # 2 Randy Petalcorin (R) sparred 8 quality rounds with former Australia professional Bantamweight champion Mark Quon (L, above photo) and also two other Australia Amateur champions sparring partners at boxingfit gym to get Randy is on target for March 28th PABA Title fight. Kazuto Ioka who recently moved up a weight class and vacated his WBA World Light Flyweight title which has left the door open now for WBA #2 Randy Petalcorin to fight for a vacant Light Flyweight WBA World title or interim WBA Title against Alberto Rossel. "We are looking at fighting for the vacant WBA light flyweight title or the interim WBA title against Alberto Rossel from Peru but let's see how the cards fall after the WBA have there meeting at the end of the month to decide what is going to happen to the light flyweight title division after Ioka vacated the WBA Title," said Petalcorin's manager, Peter Maniatis. "We have also emailed WBA coordinator Mr Julio Tyme and also PABA boss Mr Shim so that they are aware Randy is available and has put his hand up to be in one corner for the WBA World title once things are decided by the WBA. "We have also made the WBA aware that I have the capability of promoting Randy Petalcorin's WBA World Title fight in Australia and the date we are aiming for and put forward to the WBA is June 27th in Melbourne," Maniatis said. Randy of course has to win his next fight on March 28th in Melbourne to maintain his WBA #2 Ranking in order to get the WBA title fight. Petalcorin, meanwhile, said he's ready for the June 27th rumble. "My weight is good 50kg at the moment I am on target with my weight and training for March 28th. Also the weather here is not humid so I can train longer and I am currently training 3 times a day. The road work starts at 5 a.m. in the morning then strength and conditioning at 10 a.m. and I train at the boxing gym at 3 p.m. then back home to rest up for the next day's training. I am eating my 3 meals per day and I feel strong," Petalcorin said. |
