GFL's, 2013 Combat Sports Awards

(Mt Laurel, NJ)- 14 days to go until voting closes on GFL's "2013 Combat Sports Awards". Voting will close officially at 11:59pm PST on 12/31/13.

The 1st annual "GFL.tv Combat Sports Awards" was created to give the fans an opportunity to vote on their favorite fighters & fights that have happened on GFL.tv this year. With thousands of fights streamed on GFL.tv this year made choosing nominees very tough. With the help of fans and media we were able to nominee some of the best fighters, fights, reporters, and websites in the world.

GFL's "2013 Combat Sports Awards" are being voted on by fans currently and voting is live at www.GFL.tv/polls.do. Fans are very encouraged to continue voting for their favorite fights, fighters, reporters, and websites until voting closes on 12/31/13.

"We established the idea for the "2013 Combat Sports Awards" to recognize some of the most outstanding combat sports action that happened on GFL.tv this year! Instead of keeping voting in house we decided to open it up to fans. Fans are the reason we are all here. Without them GFL.tv wouldn't be stream thousands of fights per year and these incredible events wouldn't be happening. Fans are hands down the most important of what we are doing so we wanted to give them a voice!"

The different categories that were chosen we "MMA Fight of the Year", "Boxing Fight of the Year", "Muay Thai/Kickboxing Fight of the Year", "MMA T/KO of the Year", "Boxing T/KO of the Year", "Women's Fighter of the Year MMA", "Women's Fighter of the Year Muay Thai/Kickboxing", "Submission of the Year MMA", "Boxing Prospect of the Year", "MMA Prospect of the Year", "Boxing Fighter of the Year", "MMA Fighter of the Year", "Boxing Website of the Year", "MMA Website of the Year", "Boxing Reporter of the Year", & "MMA Reporter of the Year".

In the voting for "MMA Fight of the Year", Azunna Anyanwu's slug fest with Paul Holt at "CFFC 29" leads the way with 31% of the voting, while Clay Collard's 5 round war with Justin Buchholz from "Showdown Fights 12" is in a close 2nd with 25% of the voting. Also Rance Foust vs. Mike Breeden at "ShoFight 20" has 12% of the voting and 3rd place followed behind Ron Templeton vs. Anthony Guido at "Dead Serious 8" with 10% of the voting. Phillip Nover vs Mike Santiago from "Ring of Combat XLV" has 5th place with 8% while Cody Mahon vs. Cody Stevens at "Rocktagon MMA XXIII" is in 6th place with 5%. Rounding up the nominees is Chris Vallaro vs Monstir Mohammad at "EFC - MMA Mania", Ryan Ford vs Mike Hill at "AFC 19", and Bassil Hafez vs Joe Lowry at "XFE 27" all tied for 7th with 3% of the voting a piece.

"Boxing Fight of the Year" is lead by Paul Spadafora's unanimous decision victory over the always tough Robert Frankel with 57% of the voting, which is followed by Harry Joe Yorgey's razor thin controversial decision over Julius Kennedy in 2nd with 16%. Another controversial decision between Osumanu Adama & Grady Brewer is in 3rd with 11% while Teon Kennedy's return victory over Carlos Vinan has 4th place with 9% followed by a 6 round slobber knocker between Jose Maruffo and David Yanez at "Mayhem in Mesa" with 7%.

Chris McMillan vs Andrew Lewis at "Journey Fight Series IX leads "Muay Thai/Kickboxing Fight of the Year" with 27% while Georgui Smaguin vs Jason Van Oigen from "Take-On XX" holds 2nd with 19% of the votes. Will Wong vs Cameron Rozell from "Take-On XXI" are sitting in 3rd with 16% with Charlie Brown vs Garrett Culpepper from "Spartan Combat League - Phenoms" is in 4th with 10%. The "Warrior's Cup XVIII" clash between Laurel Holloway and Christina Peteraf holds 5th with 9% closely followed by Sean Fagan vs. Omar Estevez . Both Paul Miller vs Ian Hastings from "Combat at the Capitale" & Lyman Good vs Stahinga Ivanovic from "Warrior's Cup XVII" are tied for 7th with 6% of the votes.

Brendan Barrett's 1st round TKO of Silvio Santos at "Ring of Combat XLIV" is holding 1st place for "MMA T/KO of the Year" with 45% of the votes followed by Justin Buchholz 1st Round KO of Gordon Bell at "Showdown Fights 11" in 2nd with 24%. Jon Delbrugge's TKO in the 1st over Bellator veteran Neil Johnson at "XFE 27" is in 3rd place with 13% followed by Johnny Curtis capturing the CFFC HW Championship with a 1st Round stoppage over Chris Birchler at "CFFC 28" with 9%. Mike Hayes huge 3rd round TKO upset over Jeff Monson at "Cage Warrior Combat 9" sits in 5th place with 4%. Both Trent House's TKO in the 2nd over Brandon Shorter at "AFC 20" & Todd Duvall's 1st round stoppage over Jay Bleeker at "Xtreme Combat" are tied at 2% follwed by Sijen Smith's 1st round KO over Rob Gamble at "Ultimate Reno Combat 43" with 1%.

Voting for "Boxing's T/KO of the Year" is close. Dusty Hernandez-Harrison's 5th round stoppage over Eddie Soto has 1st place currently with 48% followed by Amir Mansour's 1st round demolition of Jason Gavern with 39%. Highly touted prospect Jerry Odom's 1st round stoppage of Drew Morias holds 3rd with 4%. DeCarlo Perez 5th round stoppage over the usually durable Julius Kennedy, highly touted Ivan Redkach's 1st round destruction of Sergio Rivera & Franklin Lawerence's 2nd round stoppage over Mark Brown are tied for 4th with 2%. Finally both Vinny Maddalone's 3rd round obliteration of undefeated Richard Carmack & Lionell Thompson's 2nd round stoppage of Chuck Mussachio are tied with 1%.

BAMMA USA's Rachael Cummins is leading the voting for "MMA Women's Fighter of the Year" with 48% followed by Caged Fury Fight Championship's Rebecca Heintzman with 19%. Showdown Fight's DeAnna Bennett, who holds a victory this year over TUF 18 winner Juliana Pena, is sitting in 3rd with 15%. Both Shannon Culpepper from Sparta Combat League & Katy Collins hold 4th with 7% followed by Jen Lopez from EFC with 3%.

Take-On's Jessica Ng hold 1st place of "Muay Thai/Kickboxing Women's Fighter of the Year" with 45% followed by Take-On & Warrior's Cup's Gianna Smith with 29%. Kate Allen from Take-On & Warrior's Cup holds 3rd with 14% followed by Take-On's Angela Chang with 6%. Laurel Holloway from Warrior's Cup holds 5th place with 5% while Laura Dejean also from Warrior's Cup is in 6th with 1%.

Frankie Roberts 3rd round submission over James Cordero at "Dead Serious 8" leads voting for "MMA Submission of the Year" with 41% of the votes followed closely by Charlie Brenneman's 3rd round submission over Kyle Baker at "CFFC 28" with 30%. Ryan Cafaro's 1st round submission at "XFE 23" over Ryan Holmes holds 3rd with 17% while in 4th place with 5% is Joshua Rector's 1st round submission over Brandon Collins at "Blackout FC 13". Deividas Taurosevicus Submission in the 2nd at "Ring of Combat XLIV" over Guillermo Serment & Noah Ali's 1st round submission of Mike O'Neill at "AFC 20" are tied for 5th with 2%. Finally 6th placed is tied with 1% between Justin Ellis' 1st round submission over AJ Newell at "Ultimate Reno Combat 41" & Louis Taylor's 1st round submission victory over Eric Hammerich "APFC 11".

CFFC's Jordan Stiner leads "MMA Fighter of the Year" with 40% followed by CFFC's Welterweight Champion George Sullivan with 29%. CFFC Lightweight Champ Charlie Brenneman is in 3rd with 11% followed by undefeated Paul Felder with 10%. Showdown Fight's Clay Collard is in 5th with 7% followed by Ring of Combat & current UFC Fighter Ryan Laflare with 4%.

Dusty Hernandez-Harrison leads "Boxing Fighter of the Year" with 44% very closely followed by Amir Mansour with 38%. Harry Joe Yorgey holds 3rd with 13% while Yuri Foreman & Lionell Thompson hold 5th & 6th respectively with 3% & 2% of the votes.

"MMA Prospect of the Year" is currently lead by Anthony Terrell with 40% of the voting but he is closely followed by Ring of Combat's Eddie Lenoci with 35%. Travis Wynn from CFFC holds 3rd with 13% with fellow CFFC fighter Jonavin Webb in 4th with 11%. Leodegario Nunez is currently in 5th with 1%.

Wilkins Santiago is dominating "Boxing Prospect of the Year" with 64% followed by Philly's Hasan Young with 11%. NABF Super Featherweight Champ Omar Douglas holds 3rd with 9% followed by Louis Cruz & Damon Allen who are tied for 4th with 3%. Derrick Webster, Patrick Day. Brandon Brewer, Louis Rose & Nazim Richardson trained Khalib Whitmore are tied for 5th with 2%. DiBella's Ivan Redkach & Lamar Russ are tied for 6th with 1%.

FightHype.com's Percy Crawford has a dominant lead as "Boxing Reporter of the Year" with 54% followed by ESNews' Ellie Seckbach with 6%. Kugan Cassius of iFilm London, Chris Robinson of Hustleboss.com/Boxingscene.com, Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, Mark Ortega of The Ring Online, Jenna J of On The Ropes Radio, & Luis Sandoval of Boxingscene.com are tied for 3rd with 4%. Gabe Montoya & Steve Kim from MaxBoxing.com, Doug Fischer from The Ring, Paul Mango from The Boxing Tribune, and Benny Henderson Jr from BoxingTalk.com are tied for 4th with 3%. While Ryan Burton & Ernest Gabion from Boxingscene.com are 5th & 6th respectively with 2% & 1% of voting.

BreAnna Armstrong from UltimateMMAMag.com leads voting for "MMA Reporter of the Year" with 33% followed closely by Steph Daniels of BloodyElbow.com with 16%. MMAMadHouse.com's Skippy Cohen sits in 3rd with 14% while Brent Brookhouse from BloodyElbow.com holds 4th with 12%. Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com is in 5th with 6% followed by Chris Gregory of MMAMadHouse.com / MMATopics.net with 4%. Ben Fowlkes of MMAJunkie.com & Matthew Roth holds 6th with 3%. Tied for 7th is Mike Chiapetta, Gareth Davies, John Morgan, Jordan Breen, Trevor Dueck & Zeus from Middleeasy.com. Rounding up the nominees tied for 8th are John Joe O'Regan, Danny Downes, Jason Harvey, Mike Sloan, and Lutfi Sariahmed.

RingNews24.com leads "Boxing Website of the Year" with 28% followed by FightHype.com with 21%. BadLeftHook.com holds 3rd with 16% while Boxingscene.com has 4th with 8%. Fightnews.com & WorldBoxingNews.net hold 5th & 6th respectively with 6% & 5%. In 7th place is The Ring Online with 4% followed by Queensberry-rules.com with 3%. Thaboxingvoice.com, Eastboxing.com, & MaxBoxing.com are tied for 9th with 2% with Fightersrated & Boxingpulse.com tied for 10th with 1%.

In a close race MMAMadHouse.com leads "MMA Website of the Year" with 28% but they are closely being tailed by BloodyElbow.com with 24%. Sherdog.com & MMAJunkie.com are tied for 3rd with 11%. Middleeasy.com is in 4th with 6% followed by 5th place BJPenn.com with 5%. MMAMania.com is in 6th with 4% followed by MMAWeekly.com with 3%. MMA_Topics.net & CagePotato.com are tied for 7th with 2%. MMATorch.com, MMATKO.com, and 5thRound.com are tied for 8th.
