CHINA BOXING COMMISSION AND WBO CONDUCT FIRST HIGH PROFILE BOXING EVENT IN CHINA (PHOTO) By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Fri, 05 Apr 2013 ![]() MACAU -- The China Professional Boxing Organization (CPBO) headed by its president Tao Zhang and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) headed by its president Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel conduct their first high profile boxing event in China by supervising the Zou Shiming headlined 'Fists of Gold' boxing extravaganza set for Saturday at The Venetian Hotel & Casino Cotai Arena here. IN PHOTO, top, left to right: Referee/Judge Raul Caiz Jr, WBO Vice-President for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo Jr, WBO President Paco Valcarcel, WBO Ratings Committe Chairman Luis Perez, CPBO President Tao Zhang and CPBO Executive Coordinator Maggie Wei. Promoted by Top Rank, two WBO world titles will be at stake as World Flyweight champion Brian Viloria of the Philippines will defend his belt against Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico while Super Featherweight champion Roman 'Rocky' Martinez of Puerto Rico defends his title agains popular Vegas native Diego Magdaleno. But it is the presence of iconic two-time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming who is making his record-setting pro debut that ignites the sudden popularity of boxing in this part of the world. The CPBO, which have offices in Beijing and Hong Kong, started its operation four years ago and appears ready to handle the expected big time boxing explosion to happen in the region soon.
