Top Filipino Flyweight Rey Docyogen Set to Take on Japanese MMA Legend in Malaysia PhilBoxing.com Sun, 23 Dec 2012 Top Filipino flyweight Rey Docyogen is set to make his international debut against Japanese veteran and former Shooto champion Shinichi Kojima at ONE FC: ?Return of Warriors? in Kuala Lumpur on February 2nd. Docyogen, who trains out of Team Lakay in Baguio, is the URCC pinweight champion and holds a perfect professional MMA record of 10-0. He has never fought outside of the Philippines before but will be in for a tough fight against the experienced Kojima who was once ranked the number one flyweight in the world. The match is an eliminator for the ONE FC Flyweight World Title meaning that if Docyogen wins his next fight will be for the belt. The show is set for the 15,000 capacity Stadium Putra and will be the second time that Asia?s biggest MMA organization has held an event in Kuala Lumpur. Docyogen?s battle with Kojima will be the penultimate contest of the night and is being billed as the biggest flyweight fight ever to take place in Asia. He will be one of three Filipino fighters on the card as the main event features a featherweight world title fight between his Team Lakay team mate Honorio Banario and Eric Kelly. ONE FC CEO / Owner Victor Cui says that this is a huge opportunity for Docyogen to show that he is the number one flyweight fighter in the world, ?Rey Docyogen has a fantastic record, to win 10 fights out of ten is an incredible achievement plus he is a URCC champion so we wanted to test him against the best fighter we could find. Kojima?s an MMA legend and is one of the best flyweights of all time and I?m really proud to be able to put on such an exciting fight in front of 15,000 fans in Kuala Lumpur.? ONE FC has already held one event in the Philipines, selling out the Stadium Araneta earlier this year and according to Cui more shows are planned here in 2013 although he wouldn?t confirm the exact dates. ONE FC: ?Return of Warriors? features ten fights with top Malaysian fighters Adam Kayoom, Melvin Yeoh and Peter Davis all in action as well as Lowen Tynanes, who is best known for a recent win over the Philippines very own Eduard Folayang. |
