Undefeated WBO No. 2 Froilan Saludar Defends Youth Title Against Jose Tirado of Mexico Sep. 21 PhilBoxing.com Thu, 06 Sep 2012 Manila -? In a highly anticipated bout at the Astrodome Manila on September 21st, WBO #2 flyweight world rated and current WBO World Youth Flyweight champion Froilan ?The Sniper? Saludar (15-0-0, 11KO) will again do battle for another WBO regional belt to his collection against veteran Jose Alfredo Tirado for the Interim WBO Oriental flyweight title. Tirado of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, who holds a record of 27 wins, 11 losses with 19 menacing knockouts and is currently the Flyweight Mexico champion, vows that he would knock Saludar off the number 2 lofty world ranking. Saludar last fought Alejandro Morales on March 17, 2012 at the Hoops Dome, Lapu Lapu, Cebu beating his foe impressively by unanimous decision. Before the Morales bout, Saludar knocked out 8 consecutive opponents, winning two other regional championships that kept him at in line for a shot at the world title either against WBO World Flyweight Champion Brian Viloria or IBF World Flyweight Champion Moruto Methalene. Saludar is also highly rated by the IBF at No. 3. Sampson Boxing Promotions, a licensed promoter in Las Vegas and partner of Sammy Gello-ani who holds promotional right of Saludar, has plans for Saludar to fight the winner of Viloria vs Tyson Marquez or a possible world title eliminator of either organization. ?Saludar will be our next world champion here in the Philippines," said Gello-ani. However, Saludar still needs to defend his undefeated streak as Tirado is known for being a spoiler and his capability of taking prospects to the distance and is looking to test the Sniper Saludar to his limits. Also in the triple co-feature card are hot prospect ?Pretty Boy? Jerwin Ancajas who will face Miguel Tamayo of Mexico and ?Mighty? Mark Melligen who will exchange leathers with Sapapetch Sor Sakaorat of Thailand. The Saludar ? Tirado encounter for the Interim WBO Oriental Flyweight title is promoted by Anson Tiu Co of Shape Boxing Promotions in association with SGG Sports Promotions and Joven Sports Promotions. |
