By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 07 Mar 2012

Glenn Donaire, elder brother of WBO super bantamweight champion and Ring Magazine?s No. 4 on its pound for pound rankings, WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire battles Mexico?s Omar Salado for the vacant WBC Latino super flyweight title at the Auditorio Plaza Condesa in Mexico City on March 16.
Donaire, nicknamed ?Boyet? is 32 years old and has a record of 18-4-1 with 10 knockouts while Salado who is also 32, sports a record of 23-4-2 with 14 knockouts.
Salado is ranked No. 11 in the FEDELATIN rankings while Donaire who is the WBC Latino flyweight interim champion is ranked No. 13 by the International Boxing Federation, IBF.
Donaire scored an impressive victory over Alex Sanchez on December 9, 2011 to win the interim titler when Sanchez who was down twice in the second round, retired in the eighth.
Prior to that Glenn Donaire dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to veteran and highly-touted Ulises Solis in an IBF light flyweight title fight on July 12, 2008.
Solis subsequently suffered a stunning 11th round knockout at the hands of Brian Viloria who is currently the WBO flyweight champion who will defend his title on April 1 against perennial rival Omar Nino Romero.
Salado is coming off a 3rd round TKO victory over Ramon Pena after taking a bad beating in a 7th round TKO loss to the classy Roman Gonzalez in a WBA light flyweight title fight after being dropped in rounds one and seven.
Gonzalez punished Salado in a fight that took place in picturesque Cancun, dominating every moment of the fight en route to a seventh round stoppage when his corner surrendered.
