Bago City dominated the competition and revived its reputation as the number one boxing city in the Visayas. The prestigious Mindanao leg was held at Panabo City on December of last year. Davao del Norte, powered by the host city of Panabo, grabbed the overall championship as expected. And the team to beat is Davao del Norte in the national championships. The powerhouse Davao del Norte Barangay Una boxing team will field thirteen boxers for the 2012 ABAP-PLDT National Open. The participants will include include Jay-ar Inson (64 kgs.), a Palaro, Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) and national championships medalist, Quirino Mellejor (60 kgs.) and Jolan Bonghanoy (52 kgs.) in the elite division; Radjie Tabanao (56 kgs.), Welander Hersalia (60 kgs.), Joey Canoy (46 kgs.) and Marlon John Aguilar (60 kgs.) in the youth division; Seiro Ellut (48 kgs.), Philip Jay Virador (52 kgs.), Rabicycle Gabriel (46 kgs.), Michael John Bahena (48 kgs.), Jobel Araneta (54 kgs.) and Charnie Jun Magsayo (50 kgs) in the junior division.
