BIADO WINS BALI MEET AS ORCOLLO RESTS; POCKETS $6,500

Manila, Philippines---WITH DENNIS "Robocop" Orcollo resting, Carlo "The Black Tiger" Biado kept the Philippine flag flying high in the international stage by winning the 2012 Green Garden 9 balls Open last February 23 to 26 at the Green Garden Hotel, Kuta Beach in Bali, Indonesia

Biado, former caddie-turned-billiard player, scored an 11-5 win against fellow Bugsy Promotions stablemate Roberto "Pinoy Superman" Gomez in an-all Filipino finals to go home with $ 6,500. The Zamboanga City ace Gomez, on the other hand didn't go home empty-handed satisfied a runner-up place worth $2,500 in the 128 player's event.

The 28-year-old pride of La Union claimed his first major title this year after winning the over-all championships trophy of the 2011 BSCP National Pool Championships last November at the Star Billiards Center in Grace Village, Quezon City.He also beat Taiwanese ace Chang Jung-lin, 9-7, in the Philippine Bigtime Billiards (PBB) Face Off Series last December at the Pagcor Airport Casino in Para?aque City.

Biado, an up and coming Filipino pool player made prominence in the world of pool by outlasting three world titlists, Ronato "Volcano" Alcano in the last 32 match, former World 9-Ball champion Daryl Peach of Great Britain in the last 16 match and World 8-Ball champion Orcollo in the quarter-final round but lost to China's Fu Jianbo, 9-5, in the semi-finals match of the 2011 World Ten-Ball Championships in Manila which topped by Netherland's Huidjee See.

Bugsy Promotions honcho Ceferino "Perry" Mariano, a long-time benefactor of Biado, said the pool player deserves better recognition with his latest achievement.

"Carlo is the most underrated player today," said sportsman/businessman Perry Mariano.

Orcollo, who skipped the tournament is focus on the final phase of training at the Hermes Sports Bar and Star Billiards Center against his upcoming match with Chang in the PBB Face Off Series on March 10.

"Si Carlo ay isa sa pinakamagaling na player sa bansa bukod kay Lee Vann," added Orcollo, who share PSA best athletes award with boxer Nonito Donaire Jr. set on Saturday at the Manila Hotel.

The other Filipinos who played in the Green Garden 9 balls Open tournament were Jeffrey "The Bull" de Luna, Jundel "Jano" Mazon and Rodrigo "Edgie Marilao" Geronimo.
