EARTHQUAKE HITS PINOY PRIDE XII PRESSCON By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Mon, 06 Feb 2012 Cebu City ? Tremors shook Metro Cebu and delayed the press launching for PINOY PRIDE XII Monday noon. A 6.8 magnitude quake hit the islands of Negros and Cebu and triggered a brief panic due to a tsunami scare. But the press conference managed to start an hour after the quake was felt and ALA Promotions announced that Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista of Candijay, Bohol will headline a blockbuster card at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City, Bohol against Genaro Garcia of Mexico on March 3. Bautista (32-2, 24 KO?s) made a successful defense of his IBF International featherweight title last December by sixth round knockout against erstwhile undefeated Miguel Mendoza of Mexico. Garcia (37-8, 21 KO?s) has fought eight world titlists and owns a knockout win over Rafael Marquez in 2000. Bautista said that his fellow Boholano?s will definitely enjoy this fight and he sees it as very competitive. ?I learned a lot going into the Mendoza fight,? Bautista added, ?I should fight my own fight and not fight my opponents fight. I know I can fight for a world title again. I am also ready for a rematch against Daniel Ponce de Leon if it comes, but I am not thinking of De Leon, I am concentrating on Garcia.? Genesis ?Azukal? Servania will be pitted against Nick Otieno of Kenya. Servania (16-0, 5 KO?s) is a rising unbeaten prospect who beat an undefeated Mexican, Marcos Cardenas, in his last fight. Otieno (21-7, 9 KO?s) is known here in Cebu for going the distance against the now retired Z Gorres in 2008. ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer said that they plan to bring Bautista slowly back to title contention. They also have plans to have Servania fight for a regional title belt if he continues winning to boost his chances for a world ranking. Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara will also see action against a still be announced opponent. Pagara is raring to bounce back from his points loss to Rosbel Montoya of Mexico. ?I lacked focus in that fight. I had family problems,? Pagara said, ?But I know I can beat him if they give me a rematch.? DOMINGO VS AGBEKO Michael Domingo is scheduled to also fight in Bohol against Marvin Tampus. But the more intriguing match-up will be against former world champ Joseph Agbeko of Ghana This fight is not yet set in stone and ALA Promotions is still negotiating with the Ghanaian camp; The fight is planned on May 21. PP XII PRELIMINARY BOUTS: Mark Acub of Antique will face Freddie Martinez of Metro Manila (8 rounds), Juren Labordo of Bacolod City vs Jessie Dignos of Mandaue City (4 rounds), Jimmy Paypa of Mandaue City vs Roel Peligro of Butuan City (8 rounds), Rey Morales of Bacolod City vs Jordan Catubay of Mabolo, Cebu City (4 rounds) and Pedro Balaba of Tagbilaran City vs Jerome Casas of Mabolo (4 rounds).
