CALIFORNIA BOXING SHOWS IT'S THRIVING TONIGHT AT FANTASY SPRINGS RESORT CASINO PhilBoxing.com Sat, 24 Sep 2011 "S?LO BOXEO TECATE" EVENT FEATURES SHOWDOWN OF FORMER OLYMPIANS AS VICENTE ESCOBEDO AND ROCKY JUAREZ FACE OFF IN CROSSROADS FIGHT Sergio "The Latin Snake" Mora & Jose Alfredo "Shibata" Flores Will Be In Attendance To Officially Announce Their November 4 Fight At Fantasy Springs Resort Casino INDIO, Calif., September 23- Some of California's top young boxing standouts will show their skills at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. tonight, Friday, September 23, with Coachella's Angel Osuna, Los Angeles' Raymundo Chacon and Cathedral City's Adam Carrera all in action before former Olympians Vicente Escobedo (23-3-1, 14 KO's) and Rocky Juarez (28-8-1, 20 KO's) headline this week's edition of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate" on TeleFutura in a 10-round junior lightweight bout main event. Escobedo vs. Juarez is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate, DeWalt Tools and AT&T. Doors open at 6:00pm PT on fight night and the first bell rings at 7:30pm PT. The TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:30pm ET / PT (10:30pm CT). Fans at home can also be part of the action by participating in Cintur?n Tecate and voting for the fighter in the main event who displayed the most character in the ring by sending a text message to 55333. Voting will be open through the end of the weekend. In a six round meeting of junior lightweight veterans, Cathedral City's Adam "El Torito" Carrera (19-4, 8 KO's) will take on Hidalgo, Mexico's Adolfo "Terror" Landeros (20-21-2, 10 KO's). Carrera is a former NABF and WBC FECARBOX champion who wants to get back into the contenders' race, but he'll have to get by one of the toughest customers around in the 31-year-old Landeros. A fiery competitor who was born in the boxing-rich city of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, 23-year old Angel Osuna (5-3-1, 3 KO's) now makes his home in Coachella and is gaining more and more fans with each outing thanks to his exciting style in the ring. The owner of a first round technical knockout of previously unbeaten Ruben Rivera in 2010, Osuna is coming off of a fourth round stoppage of Raul Rodriguez in August. He will face Santa Ana's Juan Carlos Diaz (7-14, 6 KO's) in a six round junior middleweight fight on Friday. Talented bantamweight prospect Raymundo Chacon (3-0) has impressed fans and opponents in a professional career that began earlier this year, as he is yet to lose a round in his three bouts. The Los Angeles product will look to keep his shutout streak intact this Friday when he meets up with 1-0 Montebello fighter David Reyes in a four round bout. Also competing on the September 23 undercard will be Coachella native Guadalupe Salcedo (1-0), who faces Cathedral City's Luis Cervantes (7-5-3, 2 KO's) in a four round junior welterweight fight. In the four round junior welterweight opener, Palm Springs' Kenny Williams (1-0, 1 KO) squares off against debuting Ronald Rodriguez of Pomona.
