MERCITO GESTA AND MICHAEL FRANCO RISK UNBEATEN RECORDS

PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES, October 14 - Two of Southern California's most promising young boxers will be put to the test in San Diego on Friday, October 22, when hometown favorite Mercito Gesta and Riverside's Michael Franco face veteran spoilers in featured bouts on TeleFutura's "S?lo Boxeo Tecate" at the Four Points Sheraton in San Diego, California.

In the main event, scheduled for eight rounds in the lightweight, Gesta faces off against Mexico's Ivan Valle, and in the eight round featherweight co-feature, Franco takes on veteran Adolfo Landeros.

Gesta vs. Valle, an eight round lightweight bout which headlines a night of world-class professional boxing, is presented by Don Chargin Productions and Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate. The doors open at 6:00pm PT, first bell rings at 7:00pm and the TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:30pm ET / 8:30pm PT (10:30pm CT). Fans at home can also be part of the action by voting for the fighter in the main event who displayed the most character during the telecast by sending a text message to 55333.

Tickets, priced starting at $25, are on sale now and available for purchase at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel Gift Store or by calling (858) 277-8888 or (619) 420-8866.

Filipino sensation Mercito Gesta (19-0-1, 9 KO's) has lived up to his nickname "No Mercy" thus far in his professional career showing an eagerness to get down to business with his fists as soon as the bell rings. A professional since the age of 16 who has been on a roll since returning to the game in 2007 after a nearly two-year layoff, the 22-year-old San Diego resident who hails from Mandaue City in the Philippines is looking forward to a fistic homecoming against one of his toughest tests to date.

30-year-old veteran Ivan "Relampago" Valle (28-9-3, 24 KO's) is never in a bad fight and he's got 24 knockout wins to prove it. One of a host of world-class fighters to call Los Mochis, Mexico home, Valle has only lost once in the last two years, and with his bout against Gesta on October 22, he's in solid form as he makes his move towards big fights in the coming months.

Forced out of his originally scheduled fight with Landeros in August due to injury, Riverside's Michael "Lil' Warrior" Franco (16-0, 11 KO's) is one hundred percent healthy and ready to give Landeros a belated welcome to California with his fists. Chomping at the bit to get back in the ring for the first time since his stoppage of Kermin Guardia in November of 2009, the 23-year-old is about to make up for lost time against his veteran foe.

Mexico City's Adolfo "El Terror" Landeros (20-15-1, 9 KO's) has been competing against top-notch competition for over a decade now and he's not about to stop now. A fighter who has been in the ring with opponents such as Guillermo Rigondeaux, Wilfredo Vasquez Jr. and Jhonny Gonzalez, Landeros has never shied away from a challenge and that warrior's spirit has made him a consistent fan favorite.

Tecate, cerveza con car?cter, is the largest beer brand to sponsor boxing matches in the U.S. Part of its commitment to make boxing accessible to consumers is the title sponsorship of "S?lo Boxeo Tecate," which creates an opportunity for local fans to witness some of the most exhilarating fights by today's up-and-coming prospects. Additionally, Tecate has been a primary supporter of Golden Boy Promotions' marquee events since 2007, and has launched a variety of initiatives to ensure consumers are part of the boxing experience, including boxer autograph signing sessions, commemorative cans, PPV mail-in rebate offers, and most recently the launch of a mobile museum "Tecate Museo de Boxeo," which showcases decades of the most memorable moments in the sport.
