Response by Team Villarreal

PhilBoxing.com

This email is in response to Mr. Ronnie Nathanielsz misleading statements posted on PHILBOXING.COM. Our complaint was not with the Philippine judges but with the fact the Dr. Tellez the commissioner for the WBC Youth program in California had assigned 3 neutral judges for this event. I was told over several phone conversations that Rex "Cowboy" Walker was going to assign a Japanese judge, a Korean Judge and an American judge. It was not until we sat down to go over the bout rules after the weigh-in's that we were informed of the local judges and not the neutral judges that we were promised.

This bout would have not taken place if we would have been told in the beginning that the neutral judges would not have been attained. It is with great disbelieve that Mr. Nathanielsz would to go as far as to compare us to Floyd Mayweather in regards to his tactics. I feel that Mr. Nathanielsz is trying to get the people of Cebu to turn on us with out giving us the opportunity to explain the situation. I believe he should have asked all parties involved before he prints incorrect information. Another thing that I would like to address is that Mr. Villarreal has never made any claims that he would knock anyone out. It was Mr. Melindo who is claiming a 6th round TKO. Mr. Villarreal's response to this comment was that he will have to be hit, and he is not planning to stand in front of Mr. Melindo to get hit. I hope that the people of Cebu and all of the Philippine's forgive Mr. Nathanielsz for these falls and in accurate statements.

We have been treated with the out most respect here by all the wonder full people of Cebu and it is our honor to be here and give them a great fight. I hope that at the end of the evening that both Mr.Villarreal and Mr. Melindo are healthy and able to return home to their families.

My, pardons to the all the Philippine people and we thank you and ALA Promotions for giving us this opportunity.

In closing I want it to be clear that a formal complaint to the WBC will be made, this has nothing to do with the assigned judges nor ALA Promotions, I only hope that PHILBOXING.COM will print this article in its full and entirety.

Sincerely,

Alberto Franco
