Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton is our New WORLD CHAMPION!!! PhilBoxing.com Mon, 14 Sep 2009 In what could be a candidate for 2009 women's boxing "Fight of the Year" and "Upset of the Year", Bay Area's Female fighting Pride of the Filipino American community Filipina Rising sensation Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton wins her 1st World Championship againts Veteran World Champion Kelsey "The Road Warrior" Jeffries via 10 Round Majority Decision. Julaton wins the IBA Super Bantamweight World Championship in only her 5th professional victory, an accomplishment like no other. Leading up to the fight Ana Julaton was a 8-1 underdog with the vast experience difference (Kelsey Jeffries 41-9-1 over a 10 year career) and Ana sporting a 4-1-1 record in less than two years of Pro boxing. This night was to belong to the Hurricane as Julaton showed poise and maturity by sticking to the gameplan despite Jeffries showing every rough tactic in the book (Head Butts, Low Blows, Elbowing and grabbing). With Julaton dominating the fight early with clean accurate power punching and lightning quick speed, the veteran did what a veteran fighter does and use roughhouse tactics to throw the less experience fighter off. With Julaton's coach famed trainer Nonito Donaire Sr. by her side, he kept insisting on Julaton "Stick to the plan, your stronger than her, your faster, don't get caught up in all her cheating!" With that type of knowledge Ana went back to work in the later rounds snapping her Jabs and continuing to tattoo Jeffries with clean accurate power punching. Julaton ended the tenth round with a thunderous lead straight right to punctuate her victory. When the scores were read an emotional Julaton could not contain herself and burst in to tears thanking her thousands of supporters in a packed HP Pavillion who all stuck around for the victory to cheer on thier new World Champion!!! Final scores were 98-92 Julaton (8 Rounds to 2), 96-94 Julaton (6 Rounds to 4) and 95-95 Draw (5 Rounds to 5). |
