GESTA HEADLINES SAN DIEGO CARD ON MAY 21

PhilBoxing.com

Offering a new twist to the San Diego boxing scene, newly minted Rogue Boxing Promotions is proud to announce their inaugural fight card on Thursday, May 21st. Aptly named "Havoc at the Hard Rock", the five bout fight card will be held at the open air Woodstock Terrace of the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter.

"My team as well as myself are very excited to bring a Las Vegas-type boxing atmosphere to San Diego," lead promoter for Rogue Boxing Derek Pierce states. "I am confident that all those who attend our show will leave with a new idea about what local boxing should be about."

In the featured bout of the evening undefeated lightweight Filipino sensation Mercito Gesta (14-0-1, 5KO) puts his perfect record on the line against Tijuana's 2008 Prospect of the year, the always tough Alain "Konan" Hernandez (14-7-2, 7KO) in a much anticipated eight round bout.

The bout will mark Gesta's first fight of 2009 after defeating Christian Favela late last year with a unanimous decision while Hernandez is riding a six fight win streak dating back to mid 2008.

The quick fisted southpaw Gesta and the come forward Mexican warrior "Konan" match up stylistically in a way that ensures fireworks for as long as the contest lasts.

In the co-featured bout, lightweight Carlos Molina of the well respected Espinoza Boxing Club returns to San Diego when he takes on his most experienced foe to date in Anthony Martinez (21-29-3, 9KO) in a scheduled six round affair. Molina first appeared in America's finest city last summer when he demolished Ramon Flores via a 2nd round TKO.

Molina, whose career is guided by the 2007 Manager of the Year Frank Espinoza and his son Frankie, holds an unblemished 6-0 record with three wins within the distance. The 20-year-old Commerce, CA native is a former national amateur champion who is considered one of the hottest young prospects in the west coast.

Three more bouts round off the night including a battle between unbeaten middleweights Ibahiem King (6-0, 2KO) and Abraham ?Abie? Han (3-0, 3KO) were somebody?s ?0? must go.

The Hard Rock Hotel is located at 207 5th Avenue, Downtown San Diego. The event is open to all ages. Tickets are available at Undisputed Training Center-Downtown and the Harley Davidson Store-Kettner branch or by visiting www.rogueboxing.com or www.SDFights.com. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 858.229.6669. Tickets start at $35.00.
