MARVELOUS MARVIN SONSONA RETURNS TO ACTION TOMORROW IN 'TRIPLE THRILLA'
PhilBoxing.com Fri, 12 Dec 2008

While Manny Pacquiao is making history in his official ascendancy into all time greatness after his stunning victory over Oscar de la Hoya last December 6th, many intriquing professional young Filipino boxers are emerging out of the whole country hoping to be like Pacquiao. Without doubt, there is only one MANNY PACQUIAO.
When Pacquiao first emerged in the US boxing scene on June 23, 2001 against highly rated IBF Champion Lehlohonolo Ledwaba, no one ever thought that this little known boxer from General Santos would end up making history.
Now, younger prospects are coming out as young as 16 years old eager to turn professionals and get fights that will ultimately qualify them for championship fights.
One hot prospect from the Philippines is MARVIN ?Marvelous? SONSONA of the fighting Sonsona family. Many have been talking about how good he is. Marvin started boxing at the young age of seven and trained earlier by his uncle Boy Sonsona. The young Marvin gathered 150 plus amateur fights and was a 5-time gold medalist, 10 times silver medalist, 9-time bronze medalist and Batang Pinoy Champion of 2002 Puerto Princesa City tournament with now an unblemished professional record of 9 wins with 8 knockouts.
With the guidance of his manager, Dr. Rajan Yraola and head trainer Jun Agrabio, Marvin Sonsona has appointed Sammy Gello-ani of the well-known SGG Sports Promotions to be his Philippine promoter. Marvin is currently the WBO YOUTH ASPAC FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION and his fight against Joel Rafols last October 4th was awarded by the WBO as the Fight of the Year during its annual convention in Florida, USA last November 10 ? 15, 2008.
Marvin will see action on Saturday, December 13th at the Compostela Sports Complex along with Florante Condes and Anthony Marcial.
Official weigh-in is today, Friday (Dec. 12th) at the IPI Gym in Tipolo, Mandaue City.
The show is presented by SGG Sports Promotions in association with GRW Productions and sponsored by Tanduay Rhum and Omega Pain Killer. Viva Sports will do the TV coverage.
