DONAIRE, MTHALANE MAKE WEIGHT! By Ferdinand Dalope PhilBoxing.com Sat, 01 Nov 2008  LAS VEGAS--Both IBF/IBO flyweight king Nonito Donaire of the Philippines and challenger Moruti Mthalane of South Africa easily made weight in today's weigh-in held at the J-Pop lounge of the Mandalay Bay here. Donaire, wearing his Arthro Kontra Arthritis jacket before stepping on the scales, came in at a perfect 112 lbs, while Moruti followed shortly after and checked in at 111 lbs. The Filipino boxing star then immediately took some bites of ripe bananas and orange juice prepared for him by his team, which includes renowned trainer Nonito Donaire Sr. "This time, I am not really having a very hard time making weight. I had enough time to do it," said Donaire prior to the official weigh-in attended by promoter Bob Arum and hosted by Lupe Contreras. The main event fighters Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and his opponent Matt Vanda both came in at 156 lbs. Also, both Jorge Arce and Isidro Garcia tipped the scales at 115 lbs for their 12-round WBA interim superflyweight championship.
