MOSLEY-MAYORGA PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

PhilBoxing.com

Richard Schaefer, CEO Golden Boy Promotions:

“This is a great showdown and affordable to many. Almost 75% of tickets are priced between $50-75 making this a very affordable fight for this magnitude.

“Shane is the gold standard in boxing because he is a fearless and exciting fighter. We are very excited to have him fighting at home in Los Angeles again.

“Mayorga is a true showman of this sport and he is going down in history as one of the best Nicaraguan fighters of all time.

Dan Beckerman, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of AEG:

“I want to welcome everyone back to The Home Depot Center.

“This has been a tremendous year for us at The Home Depot Center. We have a fantastic boxing venue and a very intimate stadium and we are excited for September 27th.”

Tony Walker, Director of Affiliate Relations of HBO Sports:

“There is something great about doing a show in Los Angeles with the sunny skies overhead.

“We have two great multiple time champions, the action is fierce and intense.

“We at HBO are excited to show this fight just as everyone at The Home Depot Center will be as well. There is a lot at stake on September 27th and we know it will be a great night of boxing.

Carl King, Manager of Ricardo Mayorga:

“We are excited to come back to fight in Los Angeles.

“It is also great to be fighting against a family of boxers with Jack, Shane and Shane Jr.

“This fight was supposed to happen in the past and it wasn’t meant to be, but now the fight is on and it is an honor to have this opportunity to fight Shane.

“Ricardo is a showman, a great fighter and a world champion….

Ricardo “El Matador” Mayorga, three-time World Champion:

“I want to first thank god for giving me this opportunity to continue fighting.

“This is going to be a short fight, like in the amateurs, only three rounds. This will be Shane’s permanent return home because the old lady needs a home.

“I brought these pink gloves for Shane to wear during the fight…I’m sending him permanently home.

“I will fight a three round fight… that is all he will last.

“I will knock out Shane just like Vernon knocked him out.

“I’ll be the man that night and he’ll be my woman…I’m from the country where we only breed men….

“Maybe Oscar will have the guts to fight me in a rematch after I beat Shane up good.

“There won’t be a lot of blood, because I’m going to beat him good and fast and tell him to go home permanently.

“Shane is washed up and he’s got nothing left.

“I’ll put my chin out there for Shane and let him hit me with his best left hook and see what happens

Jack Mosley, Father/Trainer of Mosley:

“Why did he give us these gloves? We don’t accept them! You’re present is still your present because we don’t accept it, so its still yours.

“Shane is in great shape and I’m not worried. He has been training for a long time and is very passionate and energetic. Shane is a student of this sport.

Sugar Shane Mosley, four-time World Champion:

“If he goes more than three rounds he’ll be winded and I’ll knock him out.

“I respect him but he’s kind of crazy and that’s why it will be an entertaining fight for three rounds because he always comes to fight and so do I.

“It might go four or five rounds and then after I’m through with beating Mayorga, I’ll be looking forward to fighting Margarito.

“I don’t need the pink Everlast gloves, you can keep those. I’ll be wearing the red Reyes because I’ll be coming with fire!

“It’s going to be a great night in the ring. I’m ready to go and I’m still here in this game because I love this sport.

“I also want to thank Mayorga for taking this fight because I didn’t get the opportunity to show my skills with Zab.

“I’m willing to fight anyone at 147, 154, anything…

“I fought Vargas at 154, because I was fighting at 147 at the time. It was a good thing Ricardo fought him (Vargas) at 168 because he (Vargas) was out of shape so he (Ricardo) could beat him.

“I hope that Ricardo remembers what Oscar did to him with that left hook, he better watch out.
