IIEE Metro Central Invitational Chess tourney set for May 1

Manila---The cream of the crop in Engineering chess will once again test each other’s mettle through the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE) Metro Central Invitational Chess Tournament dubbed as Labor Day Chess Tournament slated on May 1 (Wednesday) at 4/F IIEE Bldg., No.41 Monte de Piedad St. Cubao, Quezon City.

A total of P10,000 in cash prize will be given away to the winners of the Swiss competition spearheaded by IIEE Metro Central as part of the celebration of Labor day.

The champion will take home P5,000, while the second to third placers will pocket P3,000, and P2,000, respectively. The top 10 winners will also receive medals and certificates.
Special awards for the Team Champion will earn medals and certificates.

The organizers will be accepting on-site registration aside on-line registration. Those who are interested to join are advised to come at the venue at 10 a.m. or an hour before the tournament starts.

Meanwhile, the Metro Central Golf Tournament 2024 gets underway on April 24 (Wednesday) at Phadera Verde Golf and Country Club in Lubao, Pampanga.

The organizing committee invited all members of IIEE Metro Manila Region and Metro Central Chapter to participate in this event.
It shall be recalled that last March 24 the 2nd D Engineers cup darts tournament was held at Tiendesitas Mall in Pasig City. 24 players from IIEE Metro North, South, Central, East, SAEP and PSSE participated across three thrilling dart events.
The one-day extravaganza was filled with an electrifying atmosphere complemented by various raffle prizes including dart accessories.

The darts tournament was co hosted by PICHE and IIEE through Metro East.

Overall Champion IIEE-MEC followed by 2nd SAEP, 3rd IIEE-MCC while Rob Dionisio of IIEE-MEC won the singles, Dennis Reyes of SAEP took 2nd while Reagan Hernandez of IIEE-MEC wound up 3rd.
The tandem of Dionisio and Bobot Dean of IIEE-MEC topped the Fixed Doubles followed by 2nd placer the pair of Kenneth Berguera and Jerson Bergatin of IIEE-MCC and 3rd placer the duo of Matt Ablaza and Aaron Tolentino of SAEP.

Dionisio also took the Bull Eye King award followed by 2nd Reyes and 3rd Mark Serapines of IIEE-MCC.-Marlon Bernardino-
