Battle for Sixth Seeding Also Tight in the West
By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Sun, 24 Mar 2024
With only half a game separating them, three teams are also locked in the battle for the sixth seeding in the Western Conference.
The Phoenix Suns were currently on the inside track with a record of 42-29 following a road win today over the San Antonio Spurs, 136-101, their third straight.
Closely following them is the Sacramento Kings at 41-29 counting their road win, also today, over the Orlando Magic, 109-107. The Kings drew admiration for beating the Magic right in their home floor.
Also at 41-29 are the idle Dallas Mavericks who are set to play the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, March 26. A win by the Mavs will put them in a tie with the Suns.
A look at the main players of these three teams will tell us how tight the battle will be as the season heads to its final dozen or so games. Main spoiler would be injury to any of the main players.
The Suns have Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen and Bradley Beal as starters with Eric Gordon as sixth man.
The Kings have Domantas Sabonis, D' Aaron Fox, Keegan Murray, Harrison Barnes and Keon Ellis as starters and Malik Monk coming off the bench.
The Mavs cannot be overlooked with Luka Doncic, Kyle Irving, seven foot one Derek Lively II, Grant Williams and Dwight Powell starting and Tim Hardaway Jr coming off the bench.
The sixth seed would have the current #3 Minnesota Timberwolves as first round assignment which is literally a tall order as the T-Wolves have the league's most potent Twin Towers in Rudy Gobert and Karl Anthony Towns.
