"Bomba" vs Kenshiro Cancelled
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Sat, 25 Mar 2023

The exciting unification fight of WBO light flyweight champion Jonathan “Bomba” González (27-3-1, 14 KO's) of Puerto Rico and Japanese WBA/WBA light flyweight king Kenshiro Teraji (20-1, 12 KO's) has unfortunately been cancelled.
That's because, sadly, "Bomba" González contracted mycoplasma pneumonia, a symptomatic pulmonary bacterial infection.
For that big reason the Puerto Rican will not be able to fight Kenshiro in two weeks.
Their exciting fight - promoted by Hall-of-Famer Japan's top promoter Akihiko Honda - was scheduled to entertain fans on April 8 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
Now it's not known when/if it will happen.
Probably the battle could happen when Bomba gets 100% healed. But that will take time.
In the meantime, Kenshiro's team will likely be looking for another world-ranked challenger with excellent credentials and appealing to Japanese fans.
Two Filipino fighters are currently in the WBC light flyweight world ranking:
They are 29-year-old southpaw Joe Canoy (19-5-2, 11 KO's) of Gensan is WBC #11, and the 25-year old "Filipino Phenom" Regie Suganob (13-0, 4 KO's) of Bohol is WBC # 15.
Who of them would have more chances against the tough Kenshiro?
