Costbusters, Chessmis TV show way

MANILA---Defending Champion Costbusters Phils. Corp. Chess Team and Chessmis TV Chess Team continued to show the way after the fifth episode of competitions in the Season 3 of the Philippine Chess League (PCL) dubbed as the Mayor Sara Duterte Chess Online tournament virtually held via Lichess platform last Friday, April 29, 2022.

Chester Neil Reyes scored 21 points to lead Costbuster's 211-point output ahead of IIEE Chess Club (195), Durianburg Warriors (192), South Luzon Kings (170), White Knights Chess Club Team B (153) and MCL One Kid Chess Team (54) in Group A.
Freddie Talaboc also contributed 14 points, Fern Albert Falle tallied 12 points, Vladimir Gonzales and Ervil Villa chipped inn 11 points apiece while AIM Mark Anthony Dulatre, Jezreel Lopez and Engr. Bren Sasot notched 9, 5 and 2 points, respectively for the Costbusters Phils. Corp. Chess Team supported by Philippine Chess God Father Billy Joe Ereno.

"We are happy for having a nice game in Episode 5 but we still have a long way to go." said Billy Joe Ereno, team owner of Costbusters Phils. Corp. Chess Team.

Other member of the Costbusters Phils. Corp. Chess Team are Cyrus Vladimir Francisco, Ilar Keithadriane, AFM Yosef Immanuel Morada, Yaneah Sofia Morada, Kate Ordizo , Princes Louise Oncita and Engr. Edwin Lorenzo.

The PCL online team tourney has a time control of 3 minutes with two seconds increment where the players can play as many games within a one and a half-hour period according to Tournament Director Engr. Joel Anthony Hicap.

The top two teams in each group after a total of eight preliminary episodes will advance to the quarterfinals.
Pacing Group B is Season 1 winner Chessmis TV Chess Team with 274 points while trailing behind is Rising Phoenix Chess Academy with 206 points, Nueva Ecija Knights (185), White Knights Chess Club Team A (175) , TFCC Chess Movers Club (127) and PFCC Warlords (67).

Sherwin Tiu is the top scorer of Chessmis TV Chess Team with 33 points, followed by Adrian Yulo (26), Lexis Bruce Portacion (20), coach Nazario Ubanan (19), Apollo Agapay (16), Robert "Bobby" Salomon Jr. (14) and Elizardo Rico Paslon (11).

In Group C, Edmonton Oilers Uniteam lead the way with a total output of 232 points, followed by PFCC Wild Knights Chess Team (203), Bicol Chess Players Advocates (131), Pwede Pa Kami Group Chess Club (127) and San Miguel Chess Association (126).
In Group D, MindMovers.Ph is on top with 210 points followed by the Surigao Diamond Knights Chess Club (203), Dipolog City Chess Association (134), Malolos City Chess Club (118) and Malaybalay City Ches Club (84).-Marlon Bernardino-
