ANDALES RETAINS WBO ORIENTAL MINI TITLE VIA MAJORITY DRAW WITH CANOY By Lorraine Rodriguez PhilBoxing.com Sun, 10 Apr 2022 ![]() Entablado, Rizal, Laguna---April 9, 2022 The Fight for Survival under Quibors Promotion was concluded with ArAr Andales retaining his WBO Oriental minimumweight championship. The fight between Andales and Joey Canoy ended in a majority draw as two judges gave even scores for the two boxers, and the other judge scoring in favor of Canoy. By principle, the title remains with the reigning holder, which is Andales. The challenger Canoy threw powerful punches throughout the match, but Andales was more precise with his body punches and uppercuts to Canoy. The results of the supporting bouts are as follows: • Weljon Mindoro knocked out Jerwin Mejes on the very first minute of their 8-round bout; • Al Sabaupan disposed Jason Egera in 2 rounds; • Jerald Into made Ronnie Tabayag concede after the 4th round; • Jason Balajadia defeated Kelvin Tenorio inside 5 rounds; • Jericho Gatchalian won via 1st round stoppage over Juanito Hundante; • Denmark Quibido destroyed Ruben Traza in 1 round; • Ronald Alapormina also won with a 1st round knockout of Ernie Mino, Jr.; • Kevin Aseniero won in all the scorecards against JarAr Diama; • Jonah Gajana debuted with a majority decision win over Eric Tolosa; • Leboy Atencio won via a split decision against Archie Quanico on both boxers’ inaugural fight; • Noli James Maquilan opened the boxing event knocking out Michael Sarili in the 1st round.
