Hours before Vegas fight, Pacquiao remains a massive favorite against Ugas By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 22 Aug 2021 LAS VEGAS - When Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence was first announced, the iconic Filipino warrior was a 4:1 underdog to the unbeaten Spence. Less than two weeks ago prior to Spence’s withdrawal, Pacquiao’s huge fan base brought the odds down to half at 2:1, even registering below +200 in some online betting sites. Today, hours before facing a replacement fighter in Yordenis Ugas, he jumped to a massive -350 favorite at the New York, New York Hotel and Casino which is across the T- Mobile Arena -tonight’s venue for their fight. Ugas remains a huge underdog since taking the fight, he is now listed as a +275 underdog bet and there are very few foreseeable big movements to this line owing to his lack of following. If risking almost 400 dollars might be too high of a risk for Pacquiao bettors, given his age and a two year layoff from the ring. A good alternate set of betting props is him winning by decision or a knockout. FanDuel Sportsbook boosted Pacquiao to win by decision to +160 from +120, other sporting sites have it at around +110. And if you buy Freddie Roach’s prediction of a knockout for his favorite ward, a 100 dollar bet will net you around +150 on the MGM’s betting app. If the underdog reward appeals to you then every prop is a plus money for the former Olympian from Cuba. But his professional record of 26-4 and only 12 KOs pales in comparison to Pacquiao’s remarkable record of 62-7-2 and 39 KOs. Ugas does not even have half the total number of fights of his legendary opponent. Pacquiao has been a good bet for his fans in Sin City, he has rewarded them with a good return on their investments ever since he fought here in 2001 as an underdog to Lehlo Ledwaba. Hinting at a possible retirement, this might be the last time that his fans might benefit monetarily from his exploits in the bright lights and rolling dices of Las Vegas.
