The 58-year-old Antonio defeated National Master (NM) Carlos Edgardo Garma in the last round to rule the Baby Uno chess challenge dubbed as Police Col. Jaime Osit Santos chess championship (Individual Open To All Title Master) held last Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the lichess.org. Having played thousands of chess games online to earn the "Ironman" moniker, Antonio scored 10.5 points on account of 10 wins, one draw and one loss to win the 12 round Swiss tournament (3 minutes blitz time control format) in the event organized by Bayanihan Chess Club headed by AGM/NM Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. and Genghis Katipunan Imperial. "I am happy that the mixed master’s tournament continue to attract chess players of world class caliber. I wish to congratulate all those hurdlers most specially the Philippine online chess king Gm Joey Antonio. Indeed, he once again prove his supremacy in the very strong line up of competitors tonight. In solo fifth is International Master (IM) Chito Garma who totes 7.5 points. Rounding up to the top 10 were AGM Marc Paraguya (6th),NM Elwin Herbias Retanal (7th), NM Rolando Andador (8th),AGM Hermie Cagatin (9th) and AGM/NM Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. (10th).
