NBA -- Blazers' struggles continue with Hood injury
By Ryan Gallardo PhilBoxing.com Mon, 09 Dec 2019

PORTLAND -- A pall of gloom has further darkened what has already been a challenging 2019-20 NBA season for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Riddled by injuries and off to a disappointingly slow start, the team took another hit on Friday night (Saturday morning RP time) when Rodney Hood went down with a left Achilles injury that will sideline him for the remainder of this season with a lengthy rehabilitation and recovery moving forward.
The mishap happened with just 3:29 left in the first quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers' 136-113 win at the Moda Center. A sold-out crowd of 19,912 were on hand as the Blazers lost for the second time in three games to fall to a 9-14 record which is 11th in the powerful Western Conference.
"I'm very sad, very disappointed for Rodney, who was having a good year for us," Blazers head coach Terry Stotts told reporters at his post-game press conference.
"It's tough, man. You hate to see injuries in the league, period," C.J. McCollum chimed in.
A veteran of 321 games, the 6-foot-7 Hood was taken as the 23rd overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft. He appeared in 21 games for Portland this season and averaged 11 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per.
The 27-year old Duke alum was signed to a two-year $11.7 million contract last July. (RG)
