Baranchyk stops Bracero in 4
New York - Former International Boxing Federation Super Lightweight Champion, Ivan Baranchyk (19-1, 13 KOS) bounced back to the winning circle with a sounding TKO victory of battle-tested, Gabriel Bracero (25-3-1, 6 KOS).
Featured as the first offering of the main DAZN broadcast of the GGG- Derevyanchenko, Baranchyk knocked down Bracero with a body and head combination in the fourth round of a scheduled 10 round bout.
Baranchyk, who recently lost his 140 pound title to Josh Taylor last May in the 140 pound World Boxing Super Series tourney, pressured Bracero from the opening bell until Referee Arthur Mercante stopped the fight at the 1:30 mark of the 4th upon the pleading of Bracero?s corner.
The Russian Super Lightweight improved to 20-1 and his 14th knockout and claimed the vacant World Boxing Association Intercontinental Super Lightweight title with this victory.
Madrimov halts Barrera in 5
Undefeated World Boxing Association Intercontinental Super Welterweight belt-holder Israil Madrimov improved to 4-0 after stopping Alejandro Barrera (29-5, 15 KOS) of Mexico in the 5th round of another 10 round offering at The Garden.
With all of his previous fights ending in knockouts, Madrimov who hails from Khiva, Uzbekistan, added another stoppage victory in his resume when he battered and ended the more experienced Barrera in the final minute of the 5th.
Madrimov, who almost stopped Barrera in the initial round with a vicious body shot dominated the fight against Barrera who bravely traded with him.
A series of unanswered head shots from Madrimov prompted Referee Benjy Esteves to stop the punishment at the 2:36 mark of the round.
