A highly motivated Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao, boxing's only eight division world champion and a sitting Philippine senator, opened camp Saturday afternoon in Manila in preparation for his upcoming fight against undefeated Keith Thurman of the United States scheduled on July 20 (July 21 in Manila) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39KOs), the current WBA 'regular' welterweight champion and Thurman (29-0-0, 22KOs), the WBA super welterweight champion, will settle who is really the real welterweight champion in the world's oldest boxing organization.
Pacquiao and Thurman had just finished their media tour in New York and Los Angeles this week to announce their highly anticipated megafight on Fox Pay Per View where Thurman, 30, declared that he would 'retire and crucify' the Filipino legend. Pacquiao, 40, in return said he would teach the brash talking American a harsh lesson when they finally meet in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao immediately opened camp at the Elorde Boxing Gym on E-Com Building in Pasay City upon his return to the Philippines. Pacquiao did shadow boxing, skipping ropes, hit the speedball and heavy bags and engaged trainer Nonoy Neri on the mitts for six rounds.
