Heavyweight KO Artist Sam Shewmaker Has Eyes Set on US Heavyweight Title PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Oct 2018 Less than four months ago heavy handed pugilist Sam Shewmaker emerged onto the bare knuckle fight scene and recorded what many consider to be the knockout of the year in his win over Eric Prindle at BKFC 1: The Beginning, advancing him to the semifinals of the eight man heavyweight tournament. On August 25 Shewmaker faced the tough and hard nosed Maurice Jackson, and after a gritty five round battle, Shewmaker left the squared circle the victor of a split decision. The Missouri native Shewmaker, known in the fight game as the Hillbilly Hammer, now finds himself headlining the October 20th fight card live from the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, as he stands to to the line against Arnold Adams, and prepares for war to determine the United States Heavyweight Bare Knuckle Boxing Champion. ?It?s an honor to follow in the fighters? footsteps that paved the way, and to be part of making history in this sport,? said Shewmaker. ?I never thought I?d make it this far, to be on the verge of becoming a BKB champion. I?m expecting a hard fight in Arnold, and have been training for it. He likes to strike, as do I, so fans can expect an action packed fight from the onset of round one.? Shewmaker instantly become a household name amongst the fight community when he delivered ?the punch heard around the world? to Eric Prindle?s chin back in June, but when he displayed his heart, conditioning, and unrelenting work ethic in his win over Jackson, he showed fans worldwide that he was the complete package. He displayed champion characteristics in poise and control and his ability to adapt on the fly within the squared circle, earning the hard fought victory leading him to the championship showdown. Fans can expect a war. Adams has shown that he comes to fight in his first two BKFC appearances, and with the prestigious US Heavyweight Championship on the line, both warriors will undoubtedly leave it all inside the ropes. ?I?ve had a really good training camp with great coaches and sparring partners, and we are ready for October 20,? said Shewmaker. ?I?m excited to be part of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, and to be part of making it blow up not just here in the United States, but on an international level. I?d like to give a big thanks to God, and of course my wife and kids and friends and family. I know how hard it is on them while I?m training; and to all the fans for your support.? Also going to war for the World Light Heavyweight Police Gazette Diamond Belt is Bobby Gunn vs. Roberto Dos Santos Borges; also on the undercard is Kendall Grove vs. Marcel Stamps; Christine Ferea vs. Jennifer Tate; Brok Weaver vs. Joe Riggs; Reggie Barnett Jr., Harris Stephenson, Chris Cella, and several other exciting fighters.
