Garcia predicts fight with Porter will end under 9 rounds

PhilBoxing.com

New York - Hard hitting Danny Garcia not only assured his victory tomorrow against Shawn Porter but also predicted the ending of their World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight match.

Garcia, (34-1, 20 KOs) prophesied that their fight will not go the full twelve rounds and that he will stop Porter (28-2-1, 17 KOs) before the ninth round.

?Danny Garcia wins by (pauses) ..under 9,? said the former holder of the WBC green belt moments after he and Porter weighed in for their match tomorrow night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

?I?m ready to go in there and reclaim what?s mine.?

The 30 year old Philly fighter once held the title at stake before losing it to Keith Thurman in a unification match in 2017. After almost a year of layoff after losing the title, he returned with a TKO win over faded Brandon Rios in February.

Porter smiled when he heard of Garcia?s predictions, the fighter who hails from Akron, Ohio and now trains from Las Vegas also assured a win tomorrow night.

?I?m not leaving Brooklyn without this belt. Shawn Porter will be victorious tomorrow night.?

Porter like Garcia is 30 years old and is also a former champ at 147 pounds. He once held the IBF (International Boxing Federation) title when he outpointed Devon Alexander in 2013 and has been a top tier welterweight name ever since.

?To some, it?s just a belt, but for me it?s my world,? said Porter.

Both fighters successfully met the weight requirements today at the venue and faced off for the final time before one of them becomes a two-time welterweight champion.

Porter weighed in at an even 147 pounds while Garcia is at 146 3/4 pounds.

Boxing followers and critics see this as a ?pick em? fight between two durable welterweights. Garcia has a proven track of knockouts and has only tasted defeat once while Porter is a tough, brusque fighter who has only been down once in his career. Adrien Broner sent him in the canvas in the 12th in 2015 but the then IBF champ survived and still emerged victorious by a clear UD.

Latest gambling odds has Garc?a slightly favored at -165 while Porter is a +135 underdog.
