Elorde group leads Pacquiao-Matthysse fight production PhilBoxing.com Fri, 06 Jul 2018 Johnny and Liza Elorde have been tapped by the MP Promotions to lead the production of the world title fight between eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and defending World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse on July 15 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Known for their yearly hosting of the prestigious Gabriel ?Flash? Elorde Boxing Awards and Banquet of Champions at various world class venues in Metro Manila and staging championship fights, the Elorde group is also tasked by the fighting senator to construct a huge pop up gym at the Le Meridian for the training of the fighters. They also announced the weigh-in of fighters will be held at the state of the art Malaysia International Trade and Convention Centre (MITEC) prior to the fight that is expected to draw thousands of boxing fans around the world. Entrance to the weigh in is free to the public. ?The fight is on and ready,? said Liza Elorde, who is the daughter-in-law of the late boxing hero Flash Elorde. ?We are so happy to help Senator Manny (Pacquiao) in terms of organizing the fight production. We are now here in Kuala Lumpur overseeing the fight production and preparation. I have brought my top notch people from Manila all knowledgeable in boxing and we are almost done in all aspects of production. The other day, we met Matthysse at the airport with his entourage and he said his promoter Oscar Dela Hoya is also flying in early next week." She added they have distributed the fight week schedules and boxing fans all over the world will see a great boxing show come fight day. First bell starts at 7:00 in the morning and fight fans are advised to come early as all gates will open at 6:00 AM. The Elorde group basically will run the event on the floor on July 15, and they have also tasked the famous ring announcer Michael Buffer to do the announcing of the main event. ?It will be a great show not only the fights but also the entire show,? with all of the luminaries including current and former world champions, government officials and entertainment personalities in attendance, added Liza. ?We will bring the entertainment and boxing to the international highest level.? The Elorde group is also known for holding many boxing championship fights in the country and running hundreds of boxing gyms (Elorde Gym) in Metro Manila. Aside from the main event between Pacquiao and Matthysse, Elorde?s son World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific super bantamweight champion Juan Miguel (25-1 win-loss record with 13 knockouts) will be fighting Ratchanon Sawangsoda of Thailand (12-2, 12 KOs) in a non-title sixth rounder undercard bout. Undefeated Jhack Tepora of the Philippines (21-0, 16 KOs) will face Edivaldo Ortega of Mexico (26-1-1, 12 KOs) for the vacant regular WBA featherweight title. Other undercard bouts are Chinese Lu Bin (1-0), who will meet WBA light flyweight champion Carlos Canizales of Venezuela, and Moruti Mthalane of South Africa (35-2, 24 KOs) will fight Pakistan's Muhammad Waseem, (8-0, 6 KOs) for the International Boxing Federation flyweight crown.
