Diaz vows to dethrone Magsayo PhilBoxing.com Thu, 29 Jun 2017 Diaz. ?I want to send all Cebuano fans greetings from Nicaragua. I want to invite them to buy their tickets not only to watch a great fight, but also to witness the first defeat of their great champion, Mark Magsayo.? This is Daniel ?El General? Diaz? message to the boxing fans in the city for his fight against current WBO International Featherweight champion, Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo. The currently-ranked #2 Super Featherweight from Nicaragua is set to fight Magsayo in the main event of ALA Promotions? Pinoy Pride 41: New Generation Warriors on July 8 at the new IEC Convention Center in Mabolo, Cebu City. Coming off from a win over fellow countryman Jorge Moreno April of this year, Diaz is determined to leave a bitter impact to the Philippine boxing fans and Magsayo himself, promising to fly back home the triumphant and new WBO International Featherweight champion. Although this is Diaz? first fight in the Philippines, the former world title contender has had his share of fights outside his hometown long before Magsayo started his professional career, disclosing that he and his team do not think fighting in a new country and environment will have any effect on his performance next week. On top of a record twice of Magsayo?s, Diaz has also fought one world title championship and two world champions: in 2011 for the WBA World Bantamweight title against Koki Kameda in Japan, against former two-division world champion Hugo Fidel Cazares the following year for the WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation Super Bantamweight title, and against the undefeated WBF world featherweight and Republic of Poland featherweight champion Kamil Laszczyk in 2014. Diaz has also held the WBA-NABA bantamweight title during the earlier years of his career. Diaz comes into the fight on July 8 with 23 wins (15KOs), 7 losses, and no draws. Magsayo, on the other hand, is undefeated with 16 fights (12 KOs) and will be defending his title the second time after a win over veteran and former world title contender, Chris ?The Hitman? Avalos April of last year at the Cebu City Sports Complex under the Donaire-Bedak world title bout. The Magsayo-Diaz clash will headline ALA Promotions? Pinoy Pride 41: New Generation Warriors and will also feature RP #1 Super Bantamweight Jeo ?Santino? Santisima versus the undefeated Tanzanian Super Bantamweight champion Goodluck Mrema and the comebacking ?Prince? Albert Pagara versus former IBF Pan Pacific featherweight champ Aekkawee Kaewmanee of Thailand. Five professional undercard bouts will kick-off the event set next Saturday. |
