PhilBoxing.com

BEIJING, CHINA ? Three WBO regional belts will be at stake April 27 at the National Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium. Fight fans here in China?s capital will get to size up one of their rising stars, unbeaten Xiang Xiang Sun (11-0,8KO?s) when he faces Indonesian veteran Roy Mukhlis (29-6-3,22KO?s).

Sun knocked out Filipino Christian Abila only last April 15 and three of his last four fights have ended by the short route. They will fight for the WBO Asia Pacific lightweight belt.

During the official weigh-in Wednesday, Sun and Mukhlis made weight, Sun at 133lbs and the Indonesian was a pound heavier.

Ma Yi Ming (13-6,7KO?s) of China and unbeaten Ronnie Baldonado (8W-0L-1D, 5KO?s) of the Philippines will dispute the WBO interim Oriental flyweight title.

Ma is a former WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight and WBO China flyweight titlist. He lost by first round TKO to Filipino Randy Petalcorin here in Beijing in his attempt to win the WBA interim light flyweight title.

Baldonado is making his overseas debut and this will be his first attempt at any title. Ma and Baldonado were actually nearing the light flyweight limit and were just a half pound over 108. They are set for ten rounds.

Adili Abulimiti (7-1-1, 5KO?s) and Yan Jie (4-2,2KO?s) will fight for the WBO China National middleweight title. Both were at a 159 lbs.

In a heavyweight clash, Wu Zhi Yu of China will be pitted against Kuldep Singh of India in a six rounder. Wu stepped on the scales at 239lbs while Singh was at 203lbs.

The opening bout will feature Wang Jiangzheng of China vs Isroil Qurbonov of Uzbekistan in a six round cruiserweight battle.

The fight card billed as ?The Showdown in Beijing? had a pre-fight press conference Wednesday led by Promoter Chen Jia Shu and WBO Asia Pacific VP Leon Panoncillo. The organizers expressed their optimism about the continuing growth of professional boxing in China. The official weigh-in was done after the presscon and supervised by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China.
