AL BERNSTEIN: THE WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION CONTINUES TO PROVIDE ACTION PhilBoxing.com Wed, 19 Apr 2017 The red hot welterweight division again takes center stage Saturday, April 22 with Shawn Porter and Andre Berto, two former champions, meeting in what Hall of Fame Boxing announcer Al Bernstein calls ?a certain action fight.? The match will be televised on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. Bernstein will be ringside at The Barclay Center to call the action along with Mauro Ranallo, Paullie Malignaggi, while Brian Custer hosts the evening and Jim Gray handles the interviews. Bernstein sees this fight as part of the ?sorting out process? in the welterweight division. He said: ?With The Keith Thurman win over Danny Garcia preceeding this match and the Kell Brook-Errol Spence title match upcoming on May 27 (also to be seen on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING), we will see fighters find their place in the pecking order. These are all talented boxers who want to move to the top.? He added, ?The Porter-Berto fight features two men who are always in entertaining matches. The 29 year old Porter is just a few points on the judges scorecards away from being at the top of the division with close losses to both Thurman and Brook. For Andre Berto at age 33 this fight is vital in his quest to again reach the upper echelon of the division. There is a lot on the line for him and also for Porter.? Al Bernstein?s full video preview of the Porter-Berto match can be seen at www.youtube.com/AlsBoxingHangouts. It includes Al?s keys to victory for this match. In Other News: Bernstein will be appearing at the BoxFan Expo on Saturday, May 6 at The Las Vegas Convention Center. Al will be at his own booth to meet and greet boxing fans. Al will also be on stage interviewing some of the boxing champions attending the Expo. This is the third BoxFan Expo, which provides fans a chance to interact with promoters, officials, boxing celebrities and, of course, great boxers. There will be photo and autograph sessions with these great boxers. Fans will also be a chance to buy boxing memorabilia and other merchandise. ?I am delighted that I can attend this event and have a chance to meet so many boxing fans. Bring your cell phones and we?ll take a lot of photos!,? Al said. |
