HUSSEIN?S BIG MOUTH SHUT

PhilBoxing.com

Nedal ?Skinny" Hussein who dreamt of getting a rematch with Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao and together with his handlers consistently complained about his tenth round TKO loss to Pacquiao in 2000 when referee Sonny Padilla stopped the fight on orders of ringside physician Dr. Nasser Cruz, has virtually had his big mouth shut.

Japan?s undefeated Takashi Uchiyama battered Hussein to win the vacant OPBF super featherweight title when Hussein?s brother and trainer Billy Hussein threw in the towel at 1:32 of the eighth round after a huge right from the Japanese sent Hussein crashing to the canvas in the main event at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

The former Japanese national amateur champion was ?well in control? according to the Australian sports website Sports Nut and was ahead on the scorecards of all three judges ? 70-63, 70-64 and 68-65.

Hussein who was rated No.14 by the WBC was on the defensive from the start against the hard-hitting and aggressive Japanese who nailed the Australian with vicious rights and had him staggering before a solid combination and a vicious right hook decked Hussein in the eighth to effectively turn whatever dreams he had of a rematch with Pacquiao, into a nightmare.

Through the years Hussein and his trainer at the time of the Pacquiao fight, multi-titled great Jeff Fench as well as Hussein?s current handlers claimed that referee Padilla gave Pacquiao a long count when he was dropped by Hussein with a stunning left in round four and that despite the terrible gash on his left cheek and eye in round ten the fight should not have been stopped.

Even when brother Billy threw in the towel in the fight against Uchiyama who improved to 8-0 with 6 knockouts, Nedal Hussein argued that he could have gone on. Hussein dropped to 43-5 with 27 KO's.
