ABS-CBN WEEKLY SHOW TO FEATURE BAUTISTA TODAY

PhilBoxing.com

The ups and downs of Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista's boxing career will be featured in today's episode of "Nagmamahal Kapamilya", a weekly ABS-CBN entertainment program every Saturday starting at 4:30 pm.

Hosted by Bernadette Sembrano, the documentary tele-magazine special will tackle on the Boholano boxer's stirring exploits in the ring until his shocking first-round knockout loss to WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce de Leon two weeks ago.

The show includes interviews of Bautista's parents Alberto and Susana on what they feel about the devastating defeat of their beloved son.

The show will also delve on Bautista's reflections on his bitter setback as well as his plans on regaining lost pride and glamour in the ring arena.

Armed with a frightening 23-0 win-loss record spiked with 17KOs since turning pro three years ago, the 21-year-old warrior from Candijay, Bohol was highly touted as the next big thing in Philippines boxing.

That great impression of him vanished in thin air when Bautista was stopped in the very first round by Ponce de Leon in the main event of the Boxing World Cup last August 12 at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California. His debacle somehow overshadowed the Philippines' World Cup triumph over Mexico.

And as the question posed by the teaser for today's episode, will Bautista rise from the ashes of defeat?

Only time can tell.
