GOLOVKIN-BROOK RANDOM DRUG TESTS, NEGATIVE By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sat, 03 Sep 2016 The World Boxing Council has been notified by VADA ? The Voluntary Anti Doping Association that all preliminary tests performed on Gennady Golovkin and Kell Brook have been negative. They will clash for the world title at the O2 Arena in London on September 10 with Filipino IBF flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero defending his title against unbeaten Charlie Edwards on the undercard. VADA which is headed by the renowned Dr. Margaret Goodman, stated that ?Further testing from the random process may still be pending to be reported. And of course, after the fight, an antidoping test will be performed.? Meantime, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman who has been commended for instituting the random drug tests, noted that the WBC / VADA Clean Boxing Program deadline is approaching, as September 9 is the final date for this mandatory rule by all WBC champions and top 15 rated fighters. Enrollment is very simple and only needs the following documents to be filled and submitted to info@vada-testing.org. 1. Registration for program admission. 2. Therepeutic use exemption application and 3. Athlete?s whereabouts form. Sulaiman stressed "this out of competition random testing has absolutely no cost to any fighter, manager or promoter? which is the excuse some other world organizations and fight managers have sighted for not joining the VADA random drug testing protocol. The WBC stated that a random generator will select eligible fighters to be tested throughout the year. The WBC is responsible to follow the protocol whenever an adverse finding non compliance happens and each case will be treated independently through due process. Sulaiman stated that ?If you are an eligible boxer and you have a problem we will help you; if you have concerns about anything, we will solve it, but if you do not want to enroll for whatever reason then you will not be eligible to compete for the WBC and will have to be removed from the WBC ratings.? Any fighter not registered by the deadline will lose his WBC status and will be removed from the rankings. The WBC president appealed, ?Let?s make boxing better and safer together.?
