IDOL 2: Santisima to face Indonesian Champion Bajawa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 24 Jun 2016 Knockout artist Jeo ?Santino? Santisima (10 (KO 9) -2 -0), whose recent conquests include winning over hard-hitting Marco Demecillo (21 (ko 16) 5- 1) of Iligan City in a show-stopping bout last February at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, will face Indonesian superfly champ Junior Bajawa on July 16th for the second edition of ALA Promotions? IDOL series. Bajawa sports a 14 (KO 7) ? 8 record and is the former super flyweight champion of Indonesia. Having fought and lost to former world title contenders and a world champion, Bajawa is in this to win, thus poses as menacing threat to the young Filipino who is on his way to prove his place in the Boxing world. Bajawa just fought former WBO World Super Flyweight Champion Tepparith Kokietgym (32 ko- 22) ? 3 -0) last month. Earlier this year, he also confronted undefeated Australian knockout prospect and current WBA Oceania Super Bantamweight Champion Jason Moloney (7 (KO 7) ? 0). Among his other battles include fighting against notable Thailanders, WBO Asia Pacific challenger Ratchasak KKP (29 (KO 19) ? 4- 1) and Panomroonglek Kaiyanghadaogym (49 (KO 31) 2- 0), who challenged WBA World Bantamweight Champion Koki Kameda from Japan. His experience with some of the top Filipino fighters in the likes of World title contender AJ Banal, WBO World Superfly contender and current WBO Oriental Superfly champion Warlito Parrenas, and Richard Pumicpic who has held several Philippine titles over the years should also not go unnoticed, as this would mean he has had the chance to study how he may have to adjust with Filipino Santisima on the ring. And although he lost to all his Filipino opponents, Bajawa is a fighter who goes the distance, as not one of these losses was over knockout decisions. Santisima, on the other hand, during the series? launching held earlier this month, recalled how he lost his first professional fight, on the first edition of the same program, IDOL, three years back. However disheartened this made him feel, he sees how big the opportunity given to him as a co-headliner for the card as another chance to make a better future for his chosen career. |
