THAIS AND PABA MAKING A MOCKERY OF BOXING By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 27 Jul 2007 The Thais as well as the Pan Asia Boxing Association appear to be making a mockery of boxing by their failure to stop staging terrible mismatches in Thailand even after the hue and cry raised by the Philippine Games and Amusements Board over the death of 24 year old Lito Sisnorio after a brutal fourth round KO last March at the hands of former world flyweight champion Chatchai Sasakul. In the latest example two Chinese boxers were knocked out in the second round of fights held at Maha Sarakhan, Thailand. What was even worse is that one of the fights reportedly approved by top executive Alan Kim of the WBA-affiliated organization was for the Pan Asia Boxing Association interim super bantamweight title where Kosol Sor Vorapin scored a second round knockout over China’s Su Zhen Yang, the end coming at 2:58 of the round. Kosol’s record according to boxrec.com showed he had 11 KO’s in 16 wins while he also had 11 losses and 1 draw. In stark contrast Su Zhen Yang had only one scheduled six round bout before the title clash and lost that fight also by a second round KO to another Chinese Weizhi Feng. In another bout veteran super flyweight Pramuansak Posuwan won by a second round knockout over Wei Zhi Feng with the end coming at 2:11 of the round. Posuwan had a record of 37-1-1 with 22 knockouts entering the fight while his Chinese opponent had a record of 3-3 with 3 knockouts. Posuwan lost a unanimous twelve round decision to WBO champion Fernando Montiel in October 2005. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ronnie Nathanielsz. |
