A PACLANDER VISITS WILD CARD GYM

PhilBoxing.com

Amonsot (L) poses with Cris Milana.

Businessman Cris Milana, best known in Pacland as "Ninong Quatro-Katorse" and a constant fixture among superfights involving Oscar De la Hoya and Manny Pacquiao, recently took time out from his busy schedule to visit Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles to check out on the ALA Boys who are preparing for their respective upcoming bouts.

"Ninong" watched at ringside as Czar Amonsot went through his regimen last Saturday. Amonsot, the Tagbilaran, Bohol boy wonder, will challenge undefeated WBA interim lightweight champ Michael Katsidis on July 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

"I was at the Wild Card gym last Saturday and you should have heard how his punches were exploding in the punch mitts... everybody stopped and watched while Amonsot was working on the mitts... prior to Czar climbing the ring to work the mitts i saw a few big guys working the mitts and i say the sound of Czar's punches can be compared to the sound of the big guys punches," Ninong opened up.

"Eto lang masasabi ko about Czar Amonsot...guys his punches were exploding, lahat napatingin when he started hitting the punch mitts...pag inabot si Katsidis ng isang wicked right cross ni Cesar game over na another new champion para sa ating bansa and his foot works and reflexes are very good... I was standing really close to the ring next to Freddie Roach, after the bell rang for a break this is what Freddie asked me: Did you see his foot work?" Makayanan lang ni Cesar ang power punch ni Katsidis guys i like Cesar's chances...

Vivian Harris, the former WBA light welterweight champ, was also in awe of Amonsot's showing.

And security chief Rob Peters had this to say: "Katsidis better keep his guards up or else you'll see another Darchi..."

Of course, the day won't be complete without meeting the other ALA Boys who are seeing action in the August 11 World Cup in Sacramento.

"The rest of the boys they looked really great...ang mga punches nila sa mitts have a lot of snap...Bert Batawang told me na pag kalaban niya hindi tumakbo ng tumakbo this fight will be over before eight...men that's confidence...."

"Boomx2 when he saw me nakatawa kaagad and said" kamusta kuya"...hirap ng buhay ng boxer..."

"Z , AJ and Michael look really great and Gerry P, who is also an ALA Boy, is his usual self very bubbly at laging nakatawa..."

Ninong then closed his report: "The Guys said musta daw mga Cebu Paclanders...at special shout out kay pareng Ramrod at IWC...

(Note: Cris Milana, together with wife Arlene, is arriving on Friday at the Mandalay Bay instead of the usual Saturday. He says Mandalay's Sportsbook will be his priority site, knowing that Amonsot is expected to be a huge underdog, and the Boholano fighter is a 'magandang dehado.'..Cris and Arlene have signing privileges in all big hotels and casinos in Las Vegas, and they receive automatic ticket allocation to all big boxing events and concerts. Please don't ask why...)
