Kris George eyes super fight with Jeff Horn PhilBoxing.com Wed, 21 Oct 2015 Kris George targets the man many consider Australia's hottest prospect. LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN IN 2016 - Those are the words of Kris 'The Silencer' George to unbeaten Australian rising star Jeff Horn. The Silencer believes he's the one to take the sting out of the hornet and he's thrown down the gauntlet for a showdown in 2016. "I have a great respect for Jeff and what he has achieved in his short career," George said. "However I sincerely believe he has never felt the power of a real puncher and his walk forward style may come unstuck if he gets hit properly. "I think Jeff Horn's style suits me and it would be a very entertaining spectacle for Australian boxing. "Let's make it happen in 2016!" George said. Horn has many judges in the country buzzing. He's been labelled Australia's number one prospect and the man most likely to be the next World Champion from the land down under. His record is a perfect one -13 fights for 12 wins, 8 by knock out and a technical draw due to a head clash. Kris George has amassed 7 wins from 8 fights with 5 by knock out. If a bout between Horn and George was to eventuate there is no doubt the Toowoomba fighter would be a heavy under dog. "That doesn't bother me," George said. "When I fought Ozan Craddock for the State title we were both undefeated and everyone below the range said I had no hope and I was crazy for taking the fight. "The record books show I knocked out Ozan in the third round handing him his first loss. "I've never hidden from a challenge. "I've harboured a desire to face Jeff Horn for a long time now. "I'll say it again I have huge respect for Jeff and everything he has achieved - I'm not trying to create publicity by using his name or anything like that. "I want to fight Jeff Horn and I firmly believe I can beat Jeff Horn. "I'm always looking to fight the best and Jeff is one of the best if not the best out there at the moment," George said. Before George can even consider a match up with Jeff Horn his first challenge is to defeat Indonesia's Heri Andriyanto in a five round welter weight contest on October 31 on the Smithy & TGW Bring the Big Fights 11 card at Rumours International. It will be George's first fight back at welter weight after campaigning at super lightweight for his past two bouts. "I'm a lot more comfortable at welter weight," George said. "I've made a lot of changes to my style for this one. "I looked back at when I was at my best a few fights back and I was utilising my strengths like power and aggression. "I felt when I went lighter I didn't hit as hard and it was more about speed and movement. "I'm going to go back to what worked for me so hopefully it pays off on October 31. Heri Andriyanto is a stern test for my first bout back at welter weght. "He's fought as a pro 43 times for 21 wins and 2 draws. "Among his achievements - two Indonesian National titles. He's also proven himself on the International stage challenging for Youth world titles and open Regional belts. "This year alone he has fought on five occasions in Indonesia,China,Thailand and Japan. "You can't buy experience and that's what Heri has. "He fought Bai Shan Bo in China last month and he went the distance in a six round encounter. "Bai Shan Bo is undefeated and highly regarded in China. "He's also fought the likes of Renee Ganoy who at the time knocked out every Australian lightweight except Michael Katsidis. "He went the distance with Thai superstar Prawet Singwancha for the WBC International title - Singwancha was thirty wins from thirty two fights at that stage of his career. "Heri Andriyanto has proven he's World class. "I've studied his record closely and I'm well aware this is a really tough fight and that's what I want - no point going backwards I want a challenge. "Heri Andriyanto will give me that," George said. TICKETS ARE ON SALE FROM SMITHY'S TGW GYM. GET IN QUICK. FOR GROUP BOOKINGS CALL 0418 800 878. |
