Carson, CA.--After he takes care of business, it will be off to Orlando, Florida for linear and WBO light-flyweight champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes as he takes part in the 28th WBO Convention slated October 26 to 30 at the picturesque Hilton Orlando Lake Buenavista in Florida.
This was revealed yesterday by Nietes' revered handler and Cebu boxing patron Antonio L. Aldeguer in a text message to this writer. Aldeguer informed the Ring Magazine 108-lb kingpin will be joined in this annual conclave by his manager Michael Aldeguer and ALA chief trainer Edito Villamor.
WBO President Francisco Valcarcel will lead in welcoming hundreds of delegates to this annual convention that will see the world's leading boxing promoters, managers, judges, referees, boxers and other officials in a 5-day seminar to be held at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buenavista.
Meanwhile, "Pinoy Pride 33: Philippines vs the World" will hold the final press conference today (Friday, Philippine time) at the Community Hall A of the Carson Civic Center starting 11 AM.
The official weigh-in takes place the following day at the Adult Lounge of the Carson Civic Center starting 2PM on Friday (Saturday, RP time).
"Pinoy Pride 33" will be headlined by Nietes defending his WBO 108-lb title for the eighth consecutive time against Mexican Juan 'Pinky' Alejo in a 12-round scrap.
