TERRIFIC THIRD NIGHT FOR LEAGUE OF FISTS

SHANGHAI, CHINA ? The League of Fists returned to the Mixing Room of the Mercedes Benz Arena with a third group of boxers competing in the featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and super middleweight divisions.

Super middleweight Yilixiati Ainiwaer and welterweight Wang Jiancheng stood out among the twenty fighters who competed in four round contests.

Yilixiati showed an advanced skill level when he peppered Zhu Yijun with hard head and body punches for four rounds enroute to a unanimous decision win. Judges scores ? Salven Lagumbay ? 40-36, Sawaeng Thaweekoon ? 40-36, Ji Nai Bin ? 39-37.

Wang Jiancheng showed a fine jab, one-two combos and good footwork in the first two rounds against Yaxierjiang Wumaier. Wang finished the job in the third round with a hard right that sent Yaxierjang flat on his back. Referee Danrex Tapdasan immediately signaled the end of the bout.

The evening was opened by Hao Zhen beating Wang Yiming by unanimous decision. Hao suffered a nosebleed in round one but was able to take control of the fight. Scores ? Atty.Danrex Tapdasan ? 40-36, Ji Nai Bin ? 40-36, Zhao Yu Bin ? 39-37.

Guo Shihao won by unanimous decision over Bayinmandufu. Judges Sungworn Klungboonkrong, Sawaeng Thaweekoon and Salven Lagumbay all scored it 40-36.

Xu Que beat Zheng Wenhao by majority decision. Xu had a cut on his left eyebrow in the final round. The scores ? Yang Hong ? 38-38, Both Feng Yao Chen ? 39-37 and Salven Lagumbay 40-36 had it for Xu.

Wang Yingang scored a unanimous decision win over Qin Zhenwei. Scorecards ? Atty.Danrex Tapdasan ? 39-37,Feng Yao Chen ? 39-37,Yang Hong ? 40-36.

Yang Xiaolong bucked a cut left eyelid in the second round to beat Chen Xiaolong by unanimous verdict. Judges Zhao Yu Bin, Ji Nai Bin and Salven Lagumbay all had it 39-33.

Zhang Chengbo won by TKO in the first round against Zhang Jie. Referee Sungworn Klungboonkrung stopped the fight when Zhang was knocked down. Song Shuguang won by split decision over Wang Jun. Scores ? Zhao Yu Bin and Ji Nai Bin had it 39-37 and 38-37 respectively for Song, while Sawaeng Thaweekoon had it 39-37 for Wang.

In the final bout of the night, Dong Chaoqun knocked down Wang Zhonghua in the neutral corner with a swift combo in the first round.Referee Danrex Tapdasan stopped the fight with Wang trying to get up but indicating he had trouble seeing from his right eye.

The League of Fists is a tournament style professional boxing competition involving fighters from mainland China made possible by the partnership of TOP RANK and SECA. The event is supported by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission (PBC) of China.

A total of eighty boxers have been listed for this competition which is geared towards searching for new talent and stars. The first two fight dates were held last September 4 and 5.

WBO VP for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo, together with other PBC officials, conducted the rules meeting for the boxers and cornermen as well as refresher course for boxing judges and referees after the official weigh-in held Thursday.

The Professional Boxing Commission also had a hand wrapping demonstration as part of the effort to share boxing knowledge in this part of the world where the sport continues to attract new fans and participants.

The last ten pairs of boxers for the first round of matches will face each other on Saturday September 26 in the same venue.
